Refuge

Playing with Cleavers

Happy little starflowers.. Anya was thrilled to identify chickweed, and cant' wait to toss some into our salads

Can you find them? 2 does, ignoring us and trying to be invisible. We quietly watched for a long time, hoping for a glimpse of a hidden fawn. Those good mamas gave us no such chance

mmm... young nettle, coming along.. soon to harvest some for tea , soup, quiche... thinkin about making nettle ravioli...

Contemplating the fall of a beloved old friend. We talked about circles and cycles... she was so affected. (And I worried about missing our lessons, this morning!)

new life within the old.. I can't' wait to watch this little sprout grow, a tree within a tree. (though there were a bunch of hungry snails loving that living space, too...)

so many fairy houses to be built, trunks to be run upon, roots to climb! A new favorite playground!
Our family is going through a very challenging time. All are ok, and we are well supported, but digging deep. The littlest and I went to the woods and river today, me, seeking comfort, solace, and perspective. Lady Spring, in the Greenwood, and the Great Mama, welcomed us with open arms and rocked us in the most soul soothing way.  Sun through the trees, the yank yank of the nuthatch, the deer wandering across our path, the discovery of a new beach and root climbing playground...  we settled into the eternal now and plugged into ourselves and the source of all. So very healing. Where do you seek refuge? What recharges you during the demanding times in life?  I'd love to hear from where you draw your strength~

  1. Oh my goodness, Heather...this poncho is exquisite! I am in awe of the vibrancy, too. I would love to know the various plants you used to create this.
